Reading Lesson CD-ROM

1. Sound clipping on some computer models

On some brands of computers, we have had reports of sound clipping and fading. We suggest the following fix.

1. Click on "My Computer" icon on your desktop. This will open a window showing your drives.
2. Click on icon for your hard drive which is labeled "Local Disk (C:)" This
will open a window showing all folders on your hard drive.
3. Click on folder "Program Files". This will open a window showing all programs installed on your computer.
4. Click on "Reading Lesson" folder. A window will open showing all Reading Lesson files and some folders.
5. Click on "Xtras" folder. In this folder, you will see a file named "DirectSound"
6. Drag this file to your desktop. After dragging make sure that the file is gone from the "Xtras" folder.
7. Start the program. If the sound problems are gone, delete the file "DirectSound" from the desktop and you are done.

Right click and select "Save target as" for a file that will do this automatically.

2. StoryBook CD

The StoryBook program runs directly from the CD. Double click on the CD_ROM icon. Click on Story icon. The program requires no installation.

To install the program on your hard drive so you do not need the CD to run, do this:

Create a filder on your desktop or on your hard drive. Name it StoryBook. Open the CD and select all. Drag the contents of the CD to the new older you just created. Now select the story.exe icon and right click and then select send to desktop. Now you you will have an icon of the program on your desktop. Click on the icon to run the program from the hard disk.
